We’re proud to share some exciting news — SEA CON LLC was recently featured in a MSN news article highlighting a landmark sustainability project at the University of Washington!
The article spotlights the newly completed solar canopy installation in the parking lot north of Husky Stadium, and SEA CON LLC served as the general contractor on this $3.7 million project.
About the Project
This innovative pilot project features an 84-kilowatt solar array paired with Level 2 EV charging capable of accommodating 20 vehicles simultaneously. Beyond the immediate build, the electrical infrastructure has been designed to support a future expansion of up to 2.5 megawatts of power generation — enough capacity to power roughly 2,000 homes.
Located on the site of the former Montlake landfill, the project is a key step in UW’s mission to cut its carbon footprint and advance sustainable energy solutions on campus. The installation connects to both the City of Seattle’s and UW’s campus electrical grids, helping reduce reliance on utilities while building resilience against outages and fluctuating energy costs.
SEA CON LLC: Building a Sustainable Future
Being selected as general contractor for this high-profile, forward-thinking project reflects SEA CON LLC’s commitment to quality construction and our growing expertise in sustainable and green energy infrastructure. We’re honored to have played a central role alongside project partners Prime Electric (electrical contractor) and Trinity Energy (canopy fabrication) in bringing this vision to life.
This project is just the beginning — the University of Washington is currently developing its 2050 Sustainability Action Plan, which includes the long-term expansion of parking lot solar canopies across campus. We look forward to the future of clean energy construction and projects like this one that make a real difference.
